Aktuelle Situation:
Mary Kimambo hat im Juni 2010 ihr Bachelorstudium erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Für die Absolvierung dieses Studiums mußte sie einen Kredit aufnehmen. Es ist ihr großer Wunsch das Masterstudium zu absolvieren um eine Arbeitsstelle in der praktischen Sozialarbeit oder womöglich sogar am Institute of Social Work im Bereich der Lehre zu bekommen um ihr Wissen und ihre Erfahrungen an junge Studentinnen und Studenten weiterzugeben. Neben dem  grundsätzlichen Mangel an ausgebildeten Sozialarbeiterinnen und Sozialarbeitern besteht in Tansania auch ein großer Mangel an qualifiziertem Lehrpersonal. Marys Arbeitsmöglichkeiten würden sich somit durch das Absolvieren des Masterstudiums erheblich verbessern.

Hi ZIKOMO,

My name is Fanta Camara. I live with my mum and my younger siblings in Freetown, Sierra Leone and I am the third child to my mum out of eight children. My mum and dad are separated, so my mum raised us.

When I was going to school, I took part in both dancing and singing classes. After high school I worked with the “Voice of Children” on the UN Radio, because I wanted children’s voices to be heard and considered. As I was working there, my love for computers grew every day, so ever since I had this determination to become a computer engineer one day.

I’ve tried for years now to find the means to pursue my studies, but had not managed to. So thanks a lot to Zikomo for helping me achieve my dream!

Hello ZIKOMO,

my name is Petronella Nyirenda and I live with my mum and my younger sister in Lusaka. I´m the first born of three but unfortunately our brother passed away.

In Secondary School I joined the debate club and started to realize that many people made uninformed decissions and there was media illitracy in the community. I began to be critical and aware of why there was so low acces to information. Positive comments from friends and my familiy motivated me to increase my curiosity to listen to different radio programmes and watching TV programmes. I began to interact with Journalists too. This was motivational to me to start studying and reading widely and I started seeing the burning desire in me to become a Journalist.

Hi ZIKOMO,

I am Precious S. Mwanza from Lusaka, a female aged 23 years old. I am the second born in a family of three and I live with my mum and my brother. I completed secondary school education in 2004. Since 2005 I have been working with a number of NGO’s on voluntary basis on issues pertaining to HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, early marriages etc.

I have an interest in studying social work because I have always wanted to work with people especially the chronically ill and the orphans and vulnerable children, by helping them through encouragements, Care and support and giving them advice.

When I heard about ZIKOMO, and that I will be sponsored to study social work, I didn’t know how to thank ZIKOMO respectively, it was a dream come true. Such opportunities rarely come in Zambia, no wonder I promise to do my level best as am a very committed and hardworking person. Thank you very much for this opportunity.

Anold Mwene hat nach zwei erfolgreichen Studienjahren an der University of Zambia (UNZA) sein Studium „Diploma Course Social Work“ im Herbst 2009 erfolgreich abgeschlossen und das „Diploma of Social Work“ erhalten.
Aufgrund einer Änderung im Studienplan „Social Work“ an der staatlichen Universität (UNZA) Anfang 2010 bekamen alle AbgängerInnen dieses Studiums die Möglichkeit mit Anrechnung des verliehenen Diploms ihr Studium wieder aufzunehmen und dadurch ihren Ausbildungsgrad zu erhöhen. Da Anold zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch auf Arbeitssuche war und ein höherer Ausbildungsgrad die Chancen am Arbeitsmarkt verbessert, hat er sich entschieden, im Februar 2010 mit seinem Studium fortzusetzen und wurde wieder in das ZIKOMO Förderprogramm aufgenommen. Aktuell befindet sich Anold Mwene im zweiten Semester des „Advanced Diploma Coursrs“ und belegt die Kurse “Human Resource Management“, Human Resource Training and Development“, „Organisational Behaviour and Management“ und „Industrial Relations“.

Servas, servas Austria!

It is my pleasure to pass my greetings to all the people of Austria as we are getting into this festive season.

I am Anold writing from Zambia and my area of interest is to acknowledge the support the Austrian people gave to me during my study. Thereby I am saying thanks a lot. I did my Social Work course for 2 years and now I have obtained my final Diploma in the same field. I am now busy looking for a job and more especially in the field of HIV and AIDS.

Lastly I appreciate the endeavours you made in seeing me obtaining a diploma through your support, and I strongly wish you will continue supporting more students in Africa in order to attain the highest levels in Education.

Nach erfolgreicher Beendigung des Studiums „Advanced Diploma in Social Work“ hat sich Simon Kaluba entschieden, seine Ausgildung durch das Aufbaustudium „Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work" für weitere zwei Jahre fortzusetzen, um seinen Ausbildungsgrad und somit  seine Chancen im Berufsleben zu erhöhen. Die Studienfächer im Aufbaustudium sind unter anderem „Economics“, „Organisational Behaviour“, „Mass Relations“, „Social Anthropology“ und „Human Resource Management“.

Hi Austria!

This is a great moment and it has been long since you heard from Zambia.

I am Simon and I would like to thank you for the support. I am very happy and the support you gave has made me to achieve something which I never expected to have or to get.

Now the good news is that I am in my third year of studies and I have graduated with a Diploma in Social Work and now waiting for the Advanced Diploma. In the first week of December I will be writing the two exams for the first semester of the Diploma of Social Sciences.
