Dear ZIKOMO Team,
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to you (ZIKOMO) for making this educational
scholarship available. I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honour, and I am deeply
appreciative of your support.Albert Anani, 21 years of age and a Ghanaian. I am a first year student at Kwame Nkrumah
University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and pursuing a four year Bachelor Degree in
Geography and rural development. I am the first born of my parents and grew up in a low
family with my 4 siblings. Due to the economic challenges my parents were facing, they sent me
to go and stay with my uncle in Accra. Whiles with my uncle, I started elementary school and
continued to Junior High school. My father being a steel bender later moved to Accra to find
work to do. Some couple of years later, my father came for me because my mother and my
other siblings have joined him in Accra. I always follow my father to help him with the steel
bending work. I later gained admission into Legon Presbyterian Senior High School where I
completed with good results. But due to lack of financial support, I couldn’t make it to tertiary
that very year. Since I was following my father with the steel bending work for all these years, I
acquired the skills and do it even without the supervision of my father. So I engaged myself in
steel bending by day job to save some money for my education. I remember working in house
just around where Pastor Evans was living. He came to me and started having a conversation
with me, in our conversation I told him am working to save for school. He got interested and
came to see my dad that evening. He told us to apply for university after he has gone through
my SHS results. With my savings for the past two years and the support from my dad, uncle and
Pastor Evans I am now in the university.I thank all the Zikomo team for granting my application. I promise to work very hard and
eventually give back to others, possibly a scholarship to future students like myself.Yours sincerely,
Albert.
