This is his letter to you:

I am writing this letter to express my gratitude to your esteemed organization for granting me the scholarship to continue my undergraduate studies.

My name is Gideon Asare, 22 years of age and am a Ghanaian. I am a second year student at University Of Professional Studies, Accra. I am currently pursuing a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration, and I plan to follow up with a one-year master’s degree after I graduate.

I grew up in a low class family of six siblings in Ghana of which my parents went their separate ways when I was in Junior High School and I ended up in a foster home with my elder brother. The foster home was determined to provide us education, which was not easily accessible to them because of the difficult financial circumstances. Thanks to the Almighty God, determination, hard work and their support I graduated from the Labone Senior High School, one of the best senior high schools in Ghana and am now in the university of which I have to take care of myself since I started schooling for am too old to stay at the foster home by law.

I have been living on my own for the past two years and with my little savings and the help of some friends, I have been able to cater for my tuition fees for the past 4 semesters (two years).

I spend my days off campus with an NGO which is into ministering to kids living on the streets or slum of Accra, with the main aim of helping these kids to become better future leaders despite their current situation. My responsibility is to help these kids emotionally, teach them basic Mathematics, how to speak good English and also serve as a role model for them.
Now that I am in the position of helping these kids physically, it’s my dream of helping them financially and also making sure that they have a better educational background in order to become successful adults in the near future and just when I thought all hopes were lost for I was out of financial support to pay my fees in order to continue my study at the university, ZIKOMO stepped in and assured me that they are going help finance my education.

Once again I want to say a very big thank you to ZIKOMO for granting me this opportunity to continue my university studies for I know with this, I am close to meeting my dreams. I am part of the ZIKOMO family now, it really means a lot to me and at the end I would like to point out that I am determined to make the most out of this scholarship.

Thanks to each and every member of ZIKOMO and their sponsors (donors). May God richly bless you all for your good works.

Yours sincerely,
