Brief an ZIKOMO zu Beginn des Studiums

My name is Tinotenda Mphande. I am a Malawian of 19 years and I am the firstborn in a family of four, three girls and one boy. I do live with my grandparents and my mother.

My mother and my father divorced when l was in primary school. My father stopped taking care of me and my siblings since then. My mother does some small businesses, she earns so little that she can't afford to pay my school fees and my grandparents are old and don't work anymore, they have nothing to help me to complete my studies.

I am doing a diploma called "Nurse and Midwifery Technician"  at St. Luke's College of Nursing and Midwifery. During my first year, we learned the principles and practice of nursing, communication in nursing, communicable and neglected diseases, fundamentals in nursing, pharmacology, surgical, medical and basic science. In the second year we will learn theater nursing, pediatric nursing, psychiatric nursing and community nursing, and in the third year, we have the courses midwifery science 1 and 2, anatomy and physiology and neonatology 1 and 2. I am very much looking forward to doing more practical training in hospitals.

In my spare time l like singing and meeting my friends. My goal after my studies is that l want to provide quality care to young ill people and pregnant mothers in the hospital.
Yours  faithfully,
Tinotenda Mphande
